Think about this for a moment: the Edmonton Eskimos haven’t taken a kick of punt back for a touchdown since Sept. 23, 2011.
That’s an entire 2012 Canadian Football League season of return game futility and it comes on the heels of a season that was easily forgettable, save for bursts of field position and the one touchdown that Jason Armstead gave to the Eskimos.
That could change this year. Tavoy Moore shows a great deal of promise as a return man, as the Journal’s John MacKinnon wrote this week. It’s not just a clear cut, one-man campaign for the most terrifying job in football. Terrance Lewis and Tracy Lampley are both in the conversation on who will start.
On Wednesday morning, Eskimos special teams coordinator Terry Eisler spoke on the three players and the need for the return unit to be better this season.
