Less than 24 hours after cutting into their offensive line, the Edmonton Eskimos are restocked as they head into Day 1 of their training camp.
The team announced Sunday morning that it has signed nine new players, including three o-linemen and non-import quarterback Austin Kennedy.
The full list is below, via the Eskimos’ press release:
After Saturday’s releases of veteran centre Kyle Koch, tackle Joel Bell and Dale Stevenson, the offensive line is in a state of upheaval. Gord Hinse and Alexander Krausnick are both centres and will look to assume Koch’s role, while Culbreath and Curry should be after tackle spots.
Haenni is making his second appearance at camp (he was a late June release in 2012) and is now just the second fullback listed on the team’s roster, after the Saturday release of Darcy Brown. Rookie Smith Wright (a U of A Golden Bear and seventh-round pick this year) is the other fullback. Calvin McCarty also has experience at the position.
Kennedy provides a sixth quarterback at the Eskimos’ camp. A Windsor Lancer at the CIS level, he capped a three-year stay by leading the Ontario University Athletics conference in passing with 2,637 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2012.
