A wrapped Mike Reilly takes part in Esks practice; Fred Stamps back too

Mike Reilly’s thumb injury isn’t serious enough to keep him out of practice, but the Esks’ QB did get onto the field this morning with a noticeably different look.

Reilly wore a protective black wrap around his right hand for a portion of Thursday’s practice, after injuring his thumb early in Saturday’s win over the Toronto Argonauts. He and his backup, Matt Nichols, divided reps between themselves early in practice, though Nichols was the busier of the two later in the day as they readied for Monday’s Labour Day Classic against the Calgary Stampeders.

Reilly eventually ditched the wrap, working out with just tape around his hand for the rest of the practice.

Also back on the field for the first time in weeks is Esks’ slotback Fred Stamps, who has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury. He was busy in his first day back at work, settling in with the first-team.

The Eskimos started their day by adding a familiar face to the fold, in defensive tackle Cedric McKinley. The former Minnesota Gopher was with the team during training camp, but was released on June 15, after the Eskimos’ first preseason game.
